At the start of last year, the team at ProSpool and Select Bag Sealers were challenged to raise £10,000 in 12 months for Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice.
Now, we’re pleased to be able to reveal that we have surpassed ourselves by reaching the amazing final total of £11,313.90, thanks to a number of charity events our staff took part in throughout 2018.
Fundraising activities included the 25th annual Nidderdale charity walk, the Great North Swim and a challenge that saw staff from ProSpool and Select Bag Sealers cycle 714.7 miles (1149km) over the space of a week without their Yeadon-based office, thanks to the loan of an exercise bike from Rowhire.
To make sure the hospice gets every donation it deserves, ProSpool and Select Bag Sealers’ directors also pledged to match every pound raised throughout the year.
Its costs Wheatfield’s Hospice £4m a year to keep their services running, of which less than half (£1.8m) is funded by the Government, meaning they wouldn’t be able to provide the standard of care they do without donations of £2.2m to cover the remaining funds.
