Spooling gains Wings 12 December 2008

C2 Coating and Converting's November/December 2008 issue reports that "Spooling Gains Wings as it Cuts Costs".  In the article, a Market Report on Traverse Winding, ProSpool's MD, Richard Hobson, says that "canny manufacturers worldwide are increasingly realising the added benefits of outsourcing their spool-winding requirements.  By cutting out the capital cost of acquiring spool-winding machinery for themselves and training specialist staff, they can benefit from immediate cost-savings and increased efficiency."

The article explains some of the significant cost benefits provided by traverse winding, and can be read in full on the C2 website.  For more information,  please contact ProSpool.

NSPCC Big Bike Ride 08 July 2008

Over 60 staff, customers & friends supported the event on Sunday 29th June, and raised over £3,200 for the NSPCC as part of the national charity’s Big Bike Ride.

Participants covered a combined total of 300 miles in a number of separate rides during the day. NSPCC is Prospool's chosen charity for 2008 and all involved were delighted that  the £2,000 sponsorship target was easily beaten.

In spite of some rain, the day was enjoyed by all with a barbeque to refresh the hungry riders.

A very big thank you is due to everyone who turned up on the day including those who supported the event with their donations.

Going for Green… 08 July 2008

“ProSpool’s focus on green issues will make us a better business” stated Managing Director Richard Hobson when announcing the Company’s commitment to develop an Environmental Management System that complies with the internationally recognised ISO 14001 standard.  The Company has already implemented a number of measures to reduce waste sent to landfill, aided by significant support from factory operators and supervisors.

Further planned improvements include regular environmental audits to measure the impact of business activities, installing energy-saving devices such as motion sensors to activate lights, and continuing to focus on waste reduction and management. “Whilst we all want to play our part in looking after the planet, these measures will also generate cost savings, benefiting not only ProSpool but our customers as well. It’s a win-win situation” stated Hobson.

Train to Gain 04 July 2008

Irving Berlin’s words written in 1946 for the musical Annie Get your Gun are a reminder that the world remains competitive: “Anything you can do I can do better”.  ProSpool recognises that customers have a choice – products, service and outcomes must demonstrate attention to detail and provide real value for money.

Simon Browning, Technical Director, comments “Whilst we continue to develop our plant and processes, developing people is an essential part of our strategy.  ProSpool’s training programme ensures that members of staff improve their skills on a continual basis, keeping us flexible and responsive to our customers’ changing needs”.

Recent training initiatives have seen production supervisors undertake NVQ qualifications in Team Leadership, and a member of the administration team embark on a Diploma in Quality Management.
